Girls are hitting puberty at an increasingly younger age. A recent study published in the journal Pediatrics found that about 15 percent of girls studied had already begun breast development by age seven. The median age for breast development has dropped from age 10.9 years in 1991 to 9.9 years in 2006.
What makes young girls mature? Hormones. Yet, hormone disruptors are unfortunately all around them. Exposure to hormone-disrupting chemicals like flame retardants found on furniture and electronics, phthalates and BPA found in plastics and vinyl, and the herbicide atrazine found on non-organic produce could all be contributing to this early maturation.
Hormone disruptors interfere with normal hormone function. Some of these chemicals have been confirmed in human studies to interfere with male sexual development, but the research in humans is only just beginning. In fact, a recent study has found for the first time that daily exposure to BPAS increased levels of testosterone in the blood of men. Another human study found that BPA may decrease the quality and concentration of sperm in male humans. Hopefully more research will expose the dangers of endocrine disruptors in females, too.
My book Detox Strategy will help you find everything you need to begin your personal detoxification journey and take the first steps toward cleaner, healthier living – at any age.

Chemical-filled or Natural Products? Make a Healthy Swap!

‘Renew You’ Challenge – It seems like every time I read the news there’s a story about dangerous toxins in common household products. And no, I’m not talking about the every-now-and-then products like paint or bug spray, but products you use every day that you probably don’t even suspect—like your shampoo, dish soap, or even lipstick!
So many harmful toxins are hiding in everyday bath and household products that it would impossible to get rid of them all at once, but then again just sitting by and letting them build up in your body isn’t the right choice either. Over time those toxins can take a serious toll on your health! So what’s the answer?
My message has always been that we can’t avoid every toxin, but what we can do is make a few simple changes here and there to reduce our daily exposure. So this week, I want you to replace one or two chemical-laden products in your home or office with a natural alternative.
Believe me, there are so many natural cleaners and personal care items out there today, and they’re not super expensive like you might think. But if cost is an issue, why not try making some of your own products? My Detox Strategy book has some great “recipes” for natural cleaners and homemade bath and body products, so go ahead and get creative! And remember, little steps now can make a big difference in the long run.
Aerotoxic Syndrome

Summary:
In this video blog I discuss a recent lawsuit by Terry Williams against Boeing and McDonnell Douglas. In her lawsuit Ms. Williams states that she suffers from Aerotoxic Syndrome. What is Aerotoxic Syndrome? Where do you get it? What does it do to your body? Tune in and find out…
Full Script:
Have you ever felt just completely sick after lengthy airplane travel? Headache, nausea respiratory distress and muscle aches? Well airline attendant Terry Williams has, and she is suing both Boeing and McDonnell Douglas. It seems Ms. Williams has fallen victim to Aerotoxic Syndrome, brought on by the toxic chemical laden air that can be circulating in air cabins.
You see, since the early 1960’s, cabin air has typically combined the re-circulated existing cabin air with air coming off the engines. The air pulled into the engines is cooled and compressed and then pumped into the cabin.
A very toxic chemical called tricresyl phosphate is commonly used to prevent wear inside the engines.
Does this chemical really get into the cabin? Well, a secret analysis of 31 airplane cabins from different airlines was done at the University of British Columbia. 28 of them tested positive for High levels of Tricresyl phosphate.
According to a University College of London neruopsychologist, up to 200,000 airline passengers a year may suffer illness from this contaminated air.
From now on, when I fly, I’m bringing along some Renew Life’s Liver Detox. This will help the body to detoxify this harmful chemical more efficiently and quicker.

Corn Herbicides

Summary:
In this video blog I discuss an article posted on Science Daily about herbicides that are used on corn. What are herbicides? Do herbicides pose a risk to your health? Tune in and find out the answers…
Full Script:
Yesterday I read an article posted on Science Daily website I found frightening and frankly downright stupid. The article was citing a recent study which found that the herbicides mesotrione and atrazine, when applied to sweet corn, increased the corn’s nutritional value.
Specifically, they stated that these herbicides increased the carotenoids called lutein and zea-zan-thin which are linked to health benefits.
How stupid do they really think we are? Should we now be making sure our corn has these herbicides on it? Obviously this study was funded by either the American Chemical Society or the biggest herbicide manufacturer Monsanto.
And what about the “benefits” of these herbicides? How about birth defects, ocular lesions, liver, kidney and heart damage! These herbicides are even more harmful to our children.
My response to this type of scientific reporting? “Give Me A Break!”

Summary:
In this video blog I discuss how cancer is impacting animals in the wild. Why is the happening? What can you to do help? Tune in and find out…
Full Script:
Any one who reads my blogs regularly or has read my book The Detox Strategy knows how much I speak about environmental toxins and our health. We now know long term exposure to many chemicals can lead to serious health consequences, even as serious as cancer.
While cancer touches the lives of many of our family and friends, it has also become a major health concern to the world’s wildlife. Research by the Wildlife Conservation Society is revealing that cancer is killing our wildlife at similar rates to humans. In certain situations even threatening the survival of entire species.
Many animals living within polluted waters suffer high rates of cancerous tumors. For example, the beluga whales in the St. Lawrence Estuary. Cancer is one of the major causes of death and disease in these whales. Their tissues are contaminated with high levels of industrial chemicals. So much so that their carcasses are considered “toxic waste”.
Pollutants such as flame retardants, pesticides and fluoridated chemicals are harming arctic wildlife including polar bears, seals and birds. We can no longer ignore the proof that our way of life is damaging the animals.
As we learn more about our own health, and take measures to reduce our toxicity, let’s keep our wildlife in mind as well. We humans are responsible for their polluted environment and resulting health challenges. Working together we can make improvements.

As of May 12th the first US state has banned the use of the chemical BPA in baby bottles. The state of Minnesota has ruled it illegal for manufacturers of baby bottles and sippy cups containing the toxic chemical BPA to sell them to retailers in the state. Similar bans are under consideration in California, New York and Connecticut. A nationwide ban has been proposed to Congress.
I think this is the first step to the realization of how toxic this chemical is to human health. Just like with DDT it unfortunetly takes us (meaning the US government) 40 to 50 years to acknowledge the harmful health effects of a chemical we (meaning the US government) put into commercial circulation.
BPA, which is Bisphenol A, has been used in commerce for more than 50 years, even though the first evidence of it being hazardous to human health was shown in the 1930s. It is one among many chemicals used that is an endocrine disruptor, meaning it can mimic the body’s own hormones but with terrible health consequences. It is especially harmful to babies in early development. The ban of use of BPA in baby bottles is only the first step to ridding the environment and the human body of this chemical. It is a key component in the production of almost everything made of clear, hard plastic, as well as used in medical and dental devices, dental fillings and sealants, household electronics and coatings on the inside of almost all food and beverage cans.
The best thing for babies and young children is to avoid using or buying products containing BPA, such as the baby bottles, sippy cups, teething rings, pacifiers, and toys. There are many companies now that are making such items as BPA free.
For those adults also concerned about the health effects of this chemical, as we all should be, in addition to trying to avoid use of products with the chemical, consider a round of detoxification programs. This would be programs including Renew Life’s CleanseSMART, Liver Detox, and Kidney Cleanse products. These products can help stimulate the natural elimination of chemicals such as BPA from your body.
In the meantime, avoid buying BPA containing products, and keep your fingers crossed all of the United States will join Minnesota’s lead.
In this blog I discuss the new information being released about defective drywall coming from China and how this could impact your health. But, did you know that you are exposed to toxins everyday. What can you do to help you and your family in our modern toxic environment?
