Hi Duke,

Diet has alot to do with skin issues with teenagers.  Because of the diabetes she needs to be extra careful.  But also because of the diabetes I would highly suggest you get some other testing done such as the gluten sensitivity test from enterolabs.com  – It is highly likely that her diabetes is related to being gluten intolerant – and yes she probably has a candida issue.  I would suggest a candida diet in combination with no gluten.  You should also get her a stool test called CSA  with parasitology- comprehensive Stool Analysis – this will show what is going on in her digestive system, including bacteria levels, pathogenics, yeasts, fungus, parasites, ,digestive parameters like absorbtion, fatty acids, pancreatic function, gut immunity etc….. Go to labtestingdirect.com you can get the test at reasonable prices, use code "watson" for extra discounts.  You need to get these tests to find out what is going on inside your daughter before she gets older and it is harder to get under control.

Once you get the test results I will help you with what she needs to get better.

LaughHi Brenda:

My daughter has been a type 1 diabetice for 6 years and she is currently in high school.  In the past 6 months she has had a bad case of psoriasis breakout on her arms, legs, core body and in her scalp.  She has also been on Doryx for her facial acne.  The dermatologist has put her on a taclonex ointment and luxiq foam for the scalp which seem to keep it manageable, but does not clear it completely.

Stress from school could be a cause for the psoriasis breakout all of a sudden, but I am really wondering if the amount of insulin she has to take daily may be a cause of some of the skin breakouts?  She is really trying to clean up her diet and make better choices, but she is a teenager so it is far from perfect.

Your "Gut Solutions" book is one of my all time favorite reference guides and I was wondering if this is actually a cause of Candida?  Can you recommend some supplements that might help her condition?

Thanks.
