Stomach Problem - Abdominal Bloating/Heaviness/Nausea
March 4, 2009
IBS can definitely be a confusing issue. And it's so misunderstood by traditional docs.
It's good that you're putting the good bacteria in. Clearly that's not quite enough at this point.
If it were me, I'd want to know what's happening in that gut. Please consider a Comprehensive Stool Analysis (CSA) which is described toward the top of this Forum under My Suggested Tests. This will measure your bacteria - good and bad, and also will test for parasites. At least you'll know rather than guessing. We'll help you interpret the results when you get them if you would like.
Was your doc an Integrative practitioner? Here are 2 websites that might help you locate someone near you in case you'd like another opinion. http://www.acam.org and http://www.functionalmedicine.org. Another option is to
contact Phyllis at EnteroLab – 972-686-6869. She keeps a national database of
practitioners who have greater insight into gut issues and is happy to look up
someone in your area.
Please email my assistant at email@example.com to send you the chapters on GERD and also Candidiasis from my new book.
Did you notice any change with the digestive enzymes and HCl? Often, gut health is a program, rather than one product, of course. And the truth is, diet is 80% of the game. It might be time for a Candida diet (it will be included in the chapter you'll receive), or an Elimination/Detox diet http://www.brendawatson.com/diet/.
I hope this helps.

I am coming to you for advice on my chronic ailments since my sickness dates back to April of 2010. I am an aspiring actor and model, based in NYC. I have been weight training and was adding size, spring time was coming so i needed to cut some of the fat that i had accumulated, long story short, i took some diet pills, and thats when my life started going downhill, i was immediately hit with nausea and lost my appetite, i went to see a general physician, they think my stomach was producing too much acid, and at the time, it possible was, the main ingredient in the diet pills i took was saffflower seed which i found out actually produces acid, i had taken too many of the diet pills and this happened, silly me for thinking it would work better if i took more. I was given prilosec, it didnt work, then i went to see a GI doctor, got an endoscopy and was told i had barretts, prescribed me nexium 40mg and zantac 13.5mg at the sametime. I didnt know how big a problem h2 and ppi meds can have on your body until after i took it. Long story short, in sept. 2011 i went to a new GI doctor and got my year endoscopy and was told that there were no traits of barretts. I'm in awww, but yet still confused. I dont have h. pylori, nor do i have celiac disease, i was told that i have IBS. Up til today, i still have a lack of appetite, i used to be on a 3200 calorie diet before i got sick, and now i am down to maybe about 1200, i am 5'10" and currently weight 152lbs from 185lbs, i lost alot of muscle. Whenever i eat or drink water, i get a sense of heaviness in my stomach, it doesnt even have to be alot of food or water. Nausea soon sets in, not a good feeling especially living in Nyc and having to take the train often, i definately developed some sort of anxiety problem when taking the train, or on a crowded train anyway. I noticed that when i press on my abdominal area, i do feel pressure, almost like a tenderness, when my stomach is emtpy it feels fine, its when i have something in my stomach. Digestion is really slow, i am currently experimenting with HCL and digestive enzymes and i have been taking ultimate flora 50 billion for more than a year now. I do notice that when i wake up in the morning, even on an empty stomach i feel bloated, and as weird as it may sound, when i chew gum i actually feel better, i start to burp alot and with every burp that comes out, my stomach feels less bloated. I have done some reseach on parasites and candida and how they thrive on sugar and low stomach acid. But the more i read, i get different views. I even did a spit test where you spit into a glass of water to see if your saliva is cloudy to see if candida or yeast overgrowth is in effect. Brenda, ive gone through so much and any information you have or think might be wrong with me would be greatly appreciated. I'm tired of not living life to the fullest, i want my old life back and not have to worry about planning things to do with friends and family in advance and have to worry about how i will feel then.
