So I took the tests.....now what.

Dear Brenda,
We all feel your pain (initial) – we’ve been there. And I want you to know that being “gluten-free” is getting easier by the day, although just because foods are gluten free, it doesn’t mean that they’re healthful. The interest in “gluten free” has whetted the greedy appetite of major corporations. Foods touted as “gluten free” can still be over-processed and filled with sugar and useless carbs, even if they don’t apparently contain gluten! Interestingly, they sometimes do still have a tiny amount of gluten in them, depending on how strict the organizations and laws are governing the labeling. Oh my!
It’s alarming to see how many people are actually sensitive to gluten. Once again, it’s not your grandfather’s wheat that’s the issue – it’s the genetically modified product produced by our “enthusiastic” huge farming conglomerates over the last 30 years that insults our digestive systems to the point of disease.
Your best bet for yourself and your family is to revamp your household and habits using fresh vegetables, fruits, lean meats and minimally processed, whole grain carbs. There are a lot of gluten free blogs available, with really inventive and delicious recipes. You can also check out my Elimination/Detox diet at http://www.brendawatson.com/diet/ for some great recipe ideas.
Congratulations on your first steps. We’re right here, for you and with you!
Brenda
And to your question about the thyroid – miracles occur daily. First things first. Enjoy your upcoming changes knowing you’re making a choice for health and happiness. Let me know how it goes.

OfflineHi Brenda,
I had a wonderful conversation with Dr. Sinclair. I received a lot of very valuable information. I also wanted to report that I got my gluten sensitivity results today. The total was 29 which is almost 3x normal. The Dr. recommended a permanent gluten free diet. I was not really expecting this to be honest. I'm going to have to give this a lot of thought on how to accomplish this goal. Gluten is in virtually every food product in my home. Any words of wisdom or just plain moral support would be appreciated…LOL
Thanks
editing to add: It's a new day and I've been researching things from the credibility of the test itself to solutions. Much to my amazement, I found an article linking hypothyroidism to gluten sensitivity. Guess what condition I've been battling for 20 years….yep, hypothyroidism. Makes a person stop and think hard and dream. Could following a gluten free diet actually cure my hypothyroidism or is there too much damage at this point?
Dear blkane,
Please email Dr. Sinclaire at jsinclaire@renewlife.com. She will arrange a time to review your test results with you.
Let me know how you progress.

OfflineHi Brenda,
I received my analysis and pathology results and it contained some good news and not-so good news. However, it explains why my plumbing isn't working so well. I'll try and summarize below. I'm still waiting on gluten sensitivity reporting.
BACTERIOLOGY CULTURE
NG Bacteroides fragilis group
1+ Bifidobacterium spp.
NG Escherichia coli
NG Lactobacillus spp.
NG Enterococcus spp.
2+ Clostridium spp.
NG = No Growth
Commensal (Imbalanced) flora
2+ Alpha hemolytic strep
2+ Beta strep, group B
1+ Citrobacter freundii
2+ Gamma hemolytic strep
1+ Klebsiella pneumoniae ssp pneumoniae
Dysbiotic flora
3+ Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Yeast: Rare
Lactoferin 13.6 All others within normal range
My understanding is that probiotics will resolve most of the bacteriology issues. I did read your remarks to another poster on resolving Pseudomonas. Based on my readings of this bacterium, I think this is the key component of my GI issues. Overall, I feel fine but have serious fatigue and general aches of both joints and muscles everyday all the time. I've been just living with it. I just don't want to do that anymore. Heck, I'm only 51.
If you would give me your opinion on a course of action, I would be appreciative.
Thank you
