Dear monikahudsn,

You didn’t mention if you were seeing an Integrative Practitioner. They view the body as a whole and would most likely see the mucus as an important clue. Here are 2 websites that might help you locate someone near you. http://www.acam.org and http://www.functionalmedicine.org. You can also call Phyllis at EnteroLab – 972-686-6869 – she maintains a national database of practitioners who have more advanced training in digestive issues.

Mucus often shows up as result of inflammation. It sounds like your stomach lining may have been weak even before your dental procedure, and the NSAIDs really created a lot of irritation, and then the ulcer. This happens often, unfortunately. Initially, the PPIs are really needed so the ulcer (sore) can heal, however many Doctors are happy to wean you off them after a few months.

To encourage healing of your entire digestive lining, my first thought might be to supplement with some high potency powdered probiotics, like Ultimate Flora Super Critical 200 billion that would come into contact with your tract directly. Also, to help repair the lining, a product like Intestinew is great, one with L-Glutamine powder with Gamma Oryzanol. Be sure you're getting a good amount of soluble fiber as well, as it acts as a fertilizer for the probiotics, sops up toxins, and helps with healing too.

Candida is a very common problem for a huge amount of people. It's a fungus, and overlooked often by traditional Doctors. If you'd like to email my assistant at jsinclaire@renewlife.com, she will send you the chapter on Candidiasis from my new book.

I hope this helps.

Back in June i had a dental procedure and they prescribed 800mg of NSAID twice a day for 5 days.  Long story short, i ended up with ulcers, gastritis, etc.   They put me on PPIs and i now have a lingering problem.

I am constantly nauseaus and i have this strange, clear, slimy mucus that i am constantly spitting up.

I have been through a wide range of tests over the past 6 months and no doctor is taking the "mucus" problem seriously.

Has anyone else experienced this mucus problem?  I can spit in a glass of water and it looks like this slimy, mucus that floats in the water and settles to the bottom like a fungus or something.

I am looking for advice on what to test or who can help….
