I just purchased fiber smart and your constipation relief combo, after two days, I was able to "poop" without a single dose of senna. I am so excited about it, I have also invested in  the 15billion strain of your probiotic. The fiber did not hurt my stomach at all, which is a big plus for me. Thank you any tidbits are appriceated.

Dear Crystal,

Thanks so much for your vote of confidence and testimonial for ssegar007.

You didn't ask a question, so here's just a quick note. You didn't mention fiber as far as bowel support. That is a CRITICAL piece, and a salad and some veggies daily just doesn't get it. Fiber provides exercise for the intestine, absorbs toxins, and provides "fertilizer" for probiotics to name a few of its functions. 30-35 grams of fiber is a lot more than you might think, and a good goal daily.

I'd look for a fiber product with a base of flax, not psyllium. One like FiberSmart or TripleFiber, perhaps, or maybe to start, Ultimate Flora Constipation Relief, which combines probiotics, fiber and also magnesium.

And of course, plenty of water.

And Crystal, which digestive enzyme are you using? Just curious. And yes, as diet is at least 80% of the issue, the "overhaul" you mention is the best idea. Sorry.

I hope this was helpful for both of you.

Brenda

Oh my gosh, you just described me to a tee. I am 27 years old, have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, have severe hypoglycemia with many dietary triggers that cause me terrible stomach upset. Mostly gas and bloating, which I can not usually pass. I have always had trouble with my bowels and was unaware that you needed to poop every day until I was 16years old. Thanks to heavy doses of senna I can go poop so to say, but without that my bowels are a complete no go. My fibromyalgia and fatigue set in after having my first child six years ago. I have read all of brendas books, which helped me a million times more than any doctor I have been too, which is ALOT. Many gastro related tests, numerous blood tests, and trials and fails of medications, self treatment for my stomach issues with Brendas books is definately the best way for me. I am a nurse, and have a medical perspective on many things, and I keep a close eye on my symptoms. I have noticed that when I go days without a poop, my fibromyalgia symptoms are very much worse. I still have alot going on inside of me and am constantly looking for a cure all, but I know in my heart that the only answer is a true dietary overhall, I just dont have the self will power to do it. You are looking in the right place I think, what we put into our bodies affect us, and if what we put in does not COME OUT as it should I am sure that will affect us in a negative way too. I do use digestive enzymes and probiotics daily and try to remember a fish oil, but am finding that the cheaper formulas are not making a much of a difference, I have not tried Brendas line for long enough at a time to be able to see if there is a great difference, I am sure there is, I hope to invest my money in natural treatments instead of my many prescriptions. Please write back if I can be of any help to you, we could learn together maybe, best of luck to you,  CrystalWink

Dear ssegar007,

I understand how you are sick of doctors. I have to ask you however if you've seen an Integrative Practitioner? Here are 2 websites that might help you locate someone near you. http://www.acam.org and http://www.functionalmedicine.org. You could also call Phyllis at EnteroLab who has a national database of practitioners who recognize the importance of gut function to the body overall. 972-686-6869

Personally, I would want to know what is actually happening in my gut. I would want to complete a Comprehensive Stool Analysis (CSA) which is explained toward the top of this post. The practitioner I describe above will likely suggest the same. If you decide to do the test without seeing a doctor, we will be happy to help you interpret the results. Then you will have an objective starting point. Your symptoms, especially since you noticed them after your prolonged antibiotic exposure, would suggest pathogenic overgrowth for a very long time.

At the very, very least you are most likely experiencing a Leaky Gut. If you would like to contact my assistant at jsinclaire@renewlife.com, she will send you the chapter on Leaky Gut Syndrome from my new book.

Your diet is hugely important – in most cases diet is 80% of the game – you can begin these changes today. Since everything seems to make you feel sick, it might be a good idea to start with an Elimination/Detox diet – http://www.brendawatson.com/diet/ and go from there. At the very least, I would suggest you begin an anti-Candida diet – eliminating sugars, refined carbs, wheat/gluten, dairy and processed foods from your daily intake and focusing on whole, natural foods. http://blog.brendawatson.com/f…..diet-faqs/

I think you'll find an overview of the Steps to Digestive Care valuable - http://www.renewlife.com/learn…..all-health

For health, you require your channels of elimination to function properly (so toxins don't accumulate creating inflammation and pain). A Total Body Cleanse is designed to enhance and support those. http://blog.brendawatson.com/f…..sing-faqs/

If you're feeling like this is a lot of information to take in, it is. This is a step by step process, to be implemented over time. Your symptoms, probably beginning with a Leaky Gut in high school, have been multiplying over the 20+ years since. It will take focus and determination to recreate vibrant health – and it’s worth it! In a situation like yours, it is very valuable to have a professional locally who can assist you through the steps.

I hope this information was helpful for you.

I am a 40 year old woman with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and recently diagnosed with hypoglycemia. I was on antibiotics for three years in high school for my complexion. After that I was never healthy again. I suffer from severe constipation, stomach pain, headaches and backaches everyday. It seems there is nothing I can eat that doesn't make me sick . Where do I start? I am seeing an internist who keeps ordering bloodwork trying to figure it out….I'm sick of doctors!!!Help!
