Deborah,

Real quick, on the road and do not have much time – but make sure the parasite test includes three non consecutive day stool tests.  You need to take three different samples as you may not "catch" them in just one sample.  If he does not have this – go to labtestingdirect.com.  Let me know – thanks.

Just wanted to update you that the upper GI & MRI came back clear.  The pediatrician wanted me to just start her on Prilosec or Prevacid, but I said no because I don't want to have her take meds all the time…especially for such a random event.  Her doc did agree, however, to do the parasitic stool test, so I'm picking up a packet today.  I'll send another update when the results are back.  Thanks so much~

Hi Deborah,

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you.  I have been on the road alot and I wanted to ask someone about possibilities with your daughter's situation.

Good idea to do the testing with the docs to rule things out that may have to do with brain function.

I wouldn't think it had to do with the Rotovirus seeing as the last one was over a year ago.

One of my thoughts that you need to look into may be a parasitic infection such as cryptosporidium or giardia.  These can give the symptoms you describe then kinda get better and then make you sick again.   I would suggest you do a stool parasitic test on her.  Easy to do in your own home.  The best place to get the test, other than a holistic practitioner, is through a website called labtestingdirect.com – look for comprehensive parasitology test.  I t is not that expensive through this site and you can get another 10% off by putting in code "watson".

This is an interesting case – would like to know what you find out with the docs, keep me updated if you don't mind and please consider doing the parasite testing.

I am so glad to have found this site, & hope you have some insight into my daughter's situation.  The beginning of June, she had a stomach virus.  She vomited for the first day with fever, then ran fever off & on for about 4 days.  A week later, she woke up at 5:30 am complaining of an icky stomach.  She vomited for an hour & a half, with diarrhea once.  After she finished, she fell back asleep & woke up a few hours later good to go with no fever, no other side effects, and hungry.  Since then, this same thing has happened randomly 7 times.

I thought it might be an allergy, but there is no rhyme or reason that matches up with foods eaten.  She is a good eater, meaning we don't eat a lot of junk (occasional 'happy' meal) and she eats fruits, vegetables (raw & cooked), nuts, etc.  She's emotional stable, happy, & healthy.

We went to the doctor last week & she has scheduled an upper GI & an MRI of her head for next Tuesday, just to try & rule out some things.

I keep thinking that it has to be an intestinal thing, but I can't find anything online that really matches up.  She has had Rotovirus THREE times in her life…the last time being a year & a half ago.  She was very sick for 8-10 days, then it took about 6-8 weeks for her body to tolerate food outside of the 'white' diet without an onset of diarrhea again.

Anyway, any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much!

Deborah
