Hi Lisa,
Definitely a good idea to take him to the Doctor when you see blood in the stool.
If everything tests out okay, Intestinew is fine for kids – 1/2 scoop per day. Some of those ingredients are included in FloraBear.
At 9 years old, your son could actually benefit from a more potent probiotic than FloraBear (1 billion cultures), especially if he is dealing with intestinal issues. Perhaps, when you purchase again, you might choose FloraSmart – 6 billion and get Intestinew powder at the same time. Powder, not capsules.
Unless he has shown a very serious dairy sensitivity, the probiotic shouldn’t be a problem with regard to dairy at all. There’s no dairy in the product itself – it’s been tested. The disclaimer refers to the medium where is was grown.
Great idea to remove the dairy and sugar, by the way. I would also suggest you remove gluten at this time – it's a major allergen for a huge portion of our population.

Hello Brenda,
My son (age 9) seems to have blood & mucus in his stool. (I am taking him to the doctor tomorrow). He finds school stressful and has quite a few allergies. I am taking him off of dairy and sugar. Is Intestinew okay for children?
