Dear Jennifer,

How blessed she is to have your care.

I'm sure both of your ideas are correct, as lack of food means lack of fiber, and fiber exercises the intestinal muscles as well as absorbing toxins. However you certainly can't force-feed an 87 year old woman!

Constipation is a very complex issue. Lack of hydration, lack of magnesium, bacterial imbalance causing pH issues allowing overgrowth of Candida yeast/fungus/parasites, lack of exercise, are just a few possible contributors.

If she's not currently using any type of supplementation for her bowel, I would suggest Renew Life Constipation Relief. It contains good bacteria, magnesium and soluble fiber. Another product for occasional assistance with movement is CleanseMore.

You are welcome to email my assistant at jsinclaire@renewlife.com who will send you the chapter on Constipation from my new book, The Road to Perfect Health. It contains more complete information and protocols.

I hope this helps.

Hi Brenda –

I am caring for an older woman of 87. She is in pretty good health and moves around pretty well. She is taking lipitor and blood pressure medication. For many years now, she has had an issue with evacuation. She says it's there; just won't come out. She feels that because it's been so long, that her bowel muscles are no longer working. I think it's because she doesn't eat enough. I cook meals and bring them over to her; sometimes she eats them, sometimes I just end up throwing them out. Is there any advice you would share? Thank you, in advance.

Jennifer
