Thank you, Brenda for answering my reply about my illestomy, abuse of laxatives, and your own personal story.  I was very pleased and suprised to here from you.  I also enjoy you advice about digestive health.  Wish I discovered you when I was in my 20's when all this started for me.

Dear Mary

I am very sorry to hear about your surgery and outcome with illestomy. It goes without saying how important it is to figure out why you are constipated. Curing constipation is more than just taking a laxative. Laxative abuse is dangerous to say the least.

There are many reasons a person is constipated. It could be lack of fiber, dehydration, B vitamin deficiency, not enough good bacteria and many other reasons. When people first begin to experience constipation it would be beneficial for them to start the investigation on what the core issue is causing the constipation. But, like myself many people do not even know they are constipated until they have started to experience the feeling of bloated, tired and other symptoms. I was over prescribed antibiotics in my childhood and did not realize until I was an adult at 30 years old.  Constipation was at the root of of my overall health problems. The antibiotics( without probiotics) was not even understood back then. Constipation is a complex issue  as stated above. There is also an emotional component to constipation as with all health problems. Emotions not expressed and held onto can be a trigger for the immune system. I worked with many people with digestive problems and many people realized this as they began the journey of healing.

When working in a clinic for many years and helping people with digestive problems I began to recognize the people that would  take the route of diet, cleansing, and lifestyle changes to help with their digestion. On the other hand there were many who just wanted relief and were  not interested in anything but instant gratification.

I hope this helps in educating people to solve their digestive problems with education, and perseverance. It is the core of their health.

Many blessings to you

Brenda

I need some help with nutritition regarding my illestomy.  Also, Brenda, please warn your audience about the DANGERS OF STIMULANTE LAXATIVES and other laxatives.  They can lead to serious health problems.  Trust me, I learned the hard way.  Now have a permanent illestomy.  Thanks, Brenda.
