Dear sheiseclausen,

My first question to you is, in those 11 doctors that you’ve seen, were any of them Integrative Practitioners? If not, here are 2 websites that might help you locate someone near you. http://www.acam.org and http://www.functionalmedicine.org. An Integrative Doc would immediately test your hormones – and not just estrogen, progesterone and testosterone, but also check how the thyroid, adrenals, pituitary, and hypothalamus are working as well. He/she will look for not only numbers that are out of “normal” range, but out of “functional” range, which show how your body is functioning as a whole.

I don’t have to tell you that you have a lot going on. Many thoughts come to mind, however, I’m not an endocrinologist, and this is an email forum.

The TMA is a good test. It looks for biochemical imbalances. It will also alert you to heavy metal toxicities you may have accumulated. As with so many tests, a great part of the value is in the interpretation. Do you have a practitioner who you trust who will look at it? It wouldn’t be the first test I would choose at this point.

You mentioned the Fiber 35 Diet. That program is excellent for healthier individuals who don’t have sensitivities. With your history, it sounds like you need a real health overhaul, which definitely includes modifying your diet to a greater degree. If it were me, I would start on the Elimination/Detox Diet. http://www.brendawatson.com/diet/

Additionally, with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, you clearly have autoimmune issues. That means underlying Leaky Gut Syndrome. If you contact my assistant at jsinclaire@renewlife.com, she will send you that chapter from my new book. Most likely you are sensitive to gluten, dairy, or both. You MUST make dietary change if you expect to get any relief.

Initially, you need your 7 channels of elimination open and working. Have you considered a Total Body Cleanse? There’s information about cleansing here http://www.renewlife.com/learn…..-cleansing. First Cleanse, or CleanseSmart (if you tend to be constipated) might be good choices, along with your diet modifications.

You mentioned a stool test. Did you do the Comprehensive Stool Analysis (CSA) described toward the top of this forum? And when? What were the microorganism results? Were there indications of Candida? If you choose to have another CSA done, we will be happy to help you interpret the results.

I strongly recommend you locate an Integrative Doc near you who could monitor you and help through this process. This is not an overnight fix. You could also begin with the Elimination/Detox Diet and a Total Body Cleanse immediately. Continue with your probiotics, fiber and fish oil during your cleanse. They are all part of your intestinal support system.

And let me know you you’re doing. I hope this has been helpful.

After 11 doctors and 4 years I found out I have Hashimoto
Thyroiditis. I am now 47 years old and will be 48 in March. I have for the past
2 years followed your advice in the HOPE formula and Fiber 35 Diet. I take my
fish oils, probiotics and digestive enzymes. I take vit D and B sublingual. They
have put me on Armor thyroid medication now at 105 mg. I had a stool sample test
done and upped my probiotics and digestive enzymes per the results. I also had a
food sensitivity test done and have eliminated what it said to and increased
what I should. Now I have developed a new sensitivity. I cannot touch anything
that is cold. If I pick up a container from the refrigerator my hands and
fingers start to hurt, turn red and itch. If I drink something cold, my throat
feels like something is stuck in it. Also if the air conditioning is hitting me,
I break out in hives. I have been told by some friends that I need to see an
Endocrinologist, yet I saw 2 who were part of the 11 that had me diagnosed with
other things. One was so out spoken as to tell me my only problem was "Hand to
Mouth disease" and that I was lying about what I was eating and how much.
In my search for health I have become desperate. I'm
still gaining weight, losing hair, hot flashes and night sweats, chronic fatigue
yet unable to sleep at night, depression, bad acne on my face and chest and
periods that had me wearing a tampon and pad for the first 4 days. They were so
bad I carried a towel around with me to sit on so I would not get blood on
things. April of this year I had an endometrial oblation done and it helped
a lot.
I have been told about a TMA (Tissue Mineral Analysis) and have been thinking about getting one. Some
sites talk about TMA tests for only weight loss, or only Menopause. What do you
think?
I want my life back. I want to have the
energy to play with my 8 and 6 year old daughters.
