Dear Lauren,
Hmmm – h.pylori – actually makes sense. Glad you found it.
Check out this post I just wrote http://blog.brendawatson.com/f…..-pylori-2/
I will be interested if your natural approach actually works. And yes, must redo h.pylori test. Keep in mind, h.pylori often comes back. Will need to increase HCl production in stomach.
Keep me informed as things progress. And I'll be sending good healing energies your way.

OfflineHi Brenda,
Thank you as always. My doctor still thinks I have candida and that this test did not find it since the test was performed differently. I will continue on the diet. On this last stool test I got done they found h pylori. I know that many people have this, but don't have any symptoms. My bother actually does research everyday on h pylori , so I understand I should fix it because for certain people with certain immune system markers it can eventually cause stomach cancer or IBD. At least that is what my brother has found with the rats he is working with. To fix this problem they want to put me on 2 antibiotics and a pump hibator. Both of these things are not good for candida and the h pylori might be resistant to the medicine. There no guarantee that this will actually kill the h pylori and it will probably make things worse for my candida. My brother is suggesting pepto bismol based on his research, but he does not know how much I should be taking or even if it will for sure fix the problem.
I have found a formula called Matula Herbal Formula (www.perfectly-natural-health.com) that says it will kill the h pylori. It is very expensive and I will have to get another stool test again to see if the h pylori is gone, which is money that adds up. Do you have any suggest for h pylori? Have you heard of Matula Formula? My doctor only knows how to cure h pylori through medicine. She say I am welcome to try something else but that she does not know what would help. I know that this is just a blog and you would need to see me to really help, but I am just curious to know if you have any information to shed some light on this.
Right now I am taking some medicine to kill the parasites :D Thank you for all your help! Thank you for doing the pbs show! You helped me start my journey to fix my health and I will always be in your debt.
God Bless you,
Lauren
Dear Lauren,
I’m sorry to hear that your symptoms are still present. As I've said before, I'm thrilled that you have found an Integrative Doctor to help you. Again, this is only an email forum and your symptoms definitely require in-person medical attention.
Metametrix is a good company, and the information that your Doc shares will be of great value, I'm sure.
This is probiotic info off the website:
<<Our comprehensive line of probiotic supplements continues to be America's leading choice for optimal digestive and immune support. Each of our high-potency, multi-billion-count formulas combines clinically studied probiotic strains in fewer capsules to ensure maximum effectiveness, with advanced Enteric-GUARD™ delivery technology to help protect the active probiotics from harsh stomach acid and transport them directly to the intestines where they are needed most.>>
The destruction of bacteria by the stomach acid is basic physiology. If you want to deliver more good bacteria to the intestine, you need to protect them on their way there.
Sometimes, with upper digestive issues like GERD, esophagitis, and others, probiotics are needed in the upper tract, so you wouldn’t want those to be coated. In that case, you want the probiotics (along with other reparative substances) to come in contact with the tissues – and in fact, I recommend in those cases, a powdered probiotic.
Good luck with your Doctor on Tuesday.

OfflineBrenda,
I have been on the candida website a lot and I am realizing that many people are taking probiotics without Delayed Release Capsules. I tried to explain this but I think something you wrote or a study would be more compelling to people. Is there a link that you could send me to show people how stomach acid can destroy the probiotics before it get to the digestive tract?
To update you on how I feel, I am very dizzy and extremely exhausted. I have been eating a lot but yet I am still very dizzy. Dizzy enough to feel at time like I might pass out, though this has not happened yet. I don't know if it a dieing off thing or if it is because of the lack of carbs in my diet. I still have not eaten any yet. Last year I passed out a few times and it seems like the symptoms are progressing backwards , so maybe this is just part of the process. I also get an upset stomach sometimes with a list of other alignments. I am hoping these are just part of the process of getting better and not a underline problem to something else.
I got my other stool test back today from Metametrix. However this test did not test for microscopic yeast like the one from Doctor data. In the last stool test I had Many yeast in all three stool samples. In this test that I just got back it says there is no yeast or fungi (at least that is how I am reading it), but it did not do a microscopic yeast. I see on the doctor data test that there was a yeast culture and then a microscpoic yeast. What is the difference between these things? Does this mean I solved my yeast issue already? Or does this test not do as a throughal job of finding candida? If it is gone why do I still have really bad dieing off symptoms? This test did find some more bacteria (different problems than the bacteria I had originally) and parasites (again this is based on how I am reading it). I will of course be sitting down with my doctor this Tuesday to discuss treatment plan, but I am just kind of confused about the candidia findings. Any advice or guidance is also greatly appreciated. Thank you for everything :D
God bless,
Lauren

Thank you for your responses. Thank you also for always suggesting a health care practitioner. I know that you honestly just want to help people get better. It not about selling thing for you. I thank you for all the hard work you have done, your amazing books, and that you spend your time talking to people who need advice like me. I greatly appreciate you!
God Bless you

Dear Lauren,
You sound as though you're feeling much better. Wonderful!
As you've seen, there are varying opinions every step of the way in health guidance.
The incredible value that people receive using digestive enzymes, in my opinion, far outweighs the very small amount of additional sugar that might be made available when following an anti-Candida diet.
Lauren, you will have to decide for yourself how rigorous you choose to be with all aspects of your diet. It will be largely a personal experiment. You know your starting point and the symptoms you experienced. What seems to help them to decrease? If digestive enzymes make you feel worse, then they aren't appropriate at this time. Keep in mind that helpful factors shift over time. Only you (and your healthcare practioner) can chart that information.

OfflineDear Brenda,
Candida website has been very helpful for me in finding recipe, thanks for reccomending it. Thank you also for posting some recipes on the website a while back for candida problems.!
You have been extremely helpful to figure out what I should be doing. While checking out the candida diet website some one mentions that cellulase and hemicellulase are not good while on a Candida diet. They said by ingesting both cellulase and hemicellulase adds to the amount of
sugar that’s available for the Candida, if you also digest fibers such as
vegetable fibers needed by the beneficial flora that hopefully you’re
trying to rebuild. I just wanted to know your thoughts on this.
Thank you always,
Lauren
Dear Lauren,
Hooray that you've found a doctor that is really looking for what is out of balance!
It will be very interesting to see the results of the new stool analysis compared with the old. And heavy metals can wreak havoc on your health.
Congratulations on maintaining your diet. There is no down side to eating like you are, other than the weight loss. Yes, your coconut recipe sounds just great. There are actually many different things that can be done with coconut flour. Delicious too!
Now that you've found a doctor, I would ask her opinion if you should continue with the cleanse. Certainly you could take a break until your test results are in.
And of course you're not giving up – it's only been 4 months since you started writing in this Forum. And it seems, comparing this post to your original, that you are feeling better than you were. It can take a good period of time for your immune system to restore and then help to heal your body.
Thanks for keeping me posted.

OfflineDear Brenda,
I hope your Christmas was good! :) Sorry it has been a while since I updated you. I am seeing another doctor that I got from Phyllis that could get me in right away. She seems better than the last doctor I saw because she knows about the candida diet and has had patients in the past that had candida overgrowth. However based on all my symptoms and how the symptoms slowly moved up my body she thinks something else might be going on in my body, which I agree. She feels it best to check for other problems at the same time as trying to fix the candida issue. Though I have been tested for every infectious disease under the sun, I guess there is one the doctors missed. I am also getting tested for heavy metals ( to see if some type of metal problem is making it harder for me to heal) and another stools analysis ( to see if I have improve and check for parasite, even though they are hard to find). I am still going to see the other doctor in the summer that I heard good things about.
I am still on the candida diet. I have not introduced anything back into my diet. I am not even eating brown rice or any gluten free whole grains. Because of this I have lost a lot of weight (which is not a good thing since I was small to begin with) but I found a recipe on thecandidadiet website for coconut bread that people eat when they are losing to much weight on the diet. The bread is only made from coconut flour, eggs, and olive oil so I don't think there anything wrong with eating it.
I was wondering if I need to take a break from the cleanse since I have been doing it for three months. I have stopped all my supplements and cleanse for a couple of days to do the stool analysis. Will that be enough of a break before getting on the cleanse again? I still feel very lost because I am doing everything right but not feeling as good as I thought I would. I still have my muscle twitch while on the cleanse. Even things in my head are twitching (like around my ear, chin, eyes, and top of scalp). I truly wonder sometimes if I will ever get better. But I will never give up trying to get better because doing anything is better than feeling the way I do. I never knew I could be so strong :)
If you have any suggest, I greatly respect you and what you have to say.
God Bless you,
Lauren
Dear Lauren,
I’m glad Phyllis was helpful. I know you feel you’re out there on your own. I hope you find someone to see sooner than April.
I know it feels like you’ve been dealing with these issues for forever. I’m sorry to say that Candida issues seem to be the result of a long term imbalance, and it may take quite a while to feel back to “normal”. And your progress will be reflected by how much "cheating" you do on the diet.
With regard to ThreeLac – the probiotics you're currently taking now are much stronger and more potent than ThreeLac. There's nothing about this product that you're missing in your program. These people are excellent marketers which is why you see their products in so many places.
There is no reason for you to worry about having children one day, with the knowledge you are gaining in caring for your health (and theirs).
I haven't heard of Linda Allen's system, so I can't really give you an opinion. I looked it up. Almost all programs contain some good information, so if you feel you would benefit from additional reading material, then you may enjoy it! Take care to stay focused on what's working for you.
Be aware that alkaline water doesn't generally relate directly to stomach acid. People misunderstand this all the time. The excellent benefits of alkaline water relate more to the acid/base balance in the entire body.
Also, many times the issues people have with heartburn are actually not enough acid, rather than too much. That having been said, I'm quite sure that some people have perhaps had heartburn relieved after they drink it. Give it a try and see how you feel. There is very positive research regarding the health benefits of alkalinized, ionized water. Remember, your body is your own laboratory for your personal experiment.
One more thing – avoid drinking liquids with meals at all. Liquids with the food can create incomplete digestion issues all by itself.

OfflineDear Brenda,
Thanks for responding. I found a doctor in my area that seems very promising based on recommendations and information online. He was one of the doctors from the list Phyllis gave me. My doctor also recommended him a while back. However he does not take any insurance and is VERY expensive and I have to wait until April of next year to see him. So I am going to continue looking for another doctor while I wait for that appointment.
I was wondering what your thoughts are on Three-Lac as a way to kill candida? It a probiotics that I have seen over and over when searching doctors. It supposedly kills candida. Do you know if this product is good?
I am still not eating any grains except an occasional brown rice. I feel better though I am a little discourage because I thought I would feel better than I do and I would be able to reintroduce new food. I am also worried because if I do not take the cleanse my symptoms come back and I know I wont be able to take the cleanse for the rest of my life because that would not be healthy for my body. I am thankful that I feel a little better (all because of you thank you so much), but I am worried about how long it is taking and whether I will have the symptoms come back after the cleanse. I really want to have children one day but I am afraid I wont be able to do so because I may pass my candidia overgrowth to them ( which could lead to autsim or other health issues). I am sorry if I am coming of whinny I just want to voice my concerns. Am I expecting too much too soon in the process?
Also have you heard of The Yeast Infection No More System by Linda Allen? I feel a little lost just because I seem to not be able to find a doctor to help and when I do it is a very long wait to see him or her. So I am trying to find something more to help in the mean time. I also have been told that alkalizing water from the health food store would be helpful since I have been having heartburn. I already take heartburn prevention and aloe vera juice. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your help and taking your time to write to me.
Thank you and God bless ,
Lauren
Hi Lauren,
I really can’t interpret the test results that were given at the health food store. I also don’t understand how the 90 day comparison was arrived at. In any case, rest easily – a cleanse will not dump fungus into your blood.
Sometimes more information becomes a bit confusing. Also, interpretations of findings vary widely. Listen to your body would be my advice, and continue as you’ve been, since you seem to be improving.

OfflineDear Brenda,
Thank you for the number and all your help. I really appreciate all you have done for me. Your advice comes at a great time since I just came back from my gastroenterologist doctors appointment and he was very negative about the CSA and told me any changes I have experience while being on the diet and cleanse is a placebo effect. I will give Phyllis a call tomorrow! :)
I got my blood analyzed by someone who came into my local health store today. They looked at my blood through a microscope. What the lady saw was a really bad fungal problem. She rated it as a 5 (out of a scale 1 through 5) . She was able to also look at a sample of my blood that she said showed my blood cell from about 90 days ago and there was very little to no fungal shown in my blood (scale 1 to zero). The only thing I have changed during this time is taking the cleanse, staying on the Candida diet, and taking diflucan so I don't understand why the candida fungal has grown in my blood through this period. Do you know if this is normal? Could it be that the cleanse is pulling out my candida from organs, muscles, and sinuses, and that is why there is candida fungal shown in my blood now and none shown a few months ago? I don't think that makes sense but I don't understand how I have gotten worse.
What I find weird is that my sinus feel better than they have in probably 2 years and it is better now than a few months ago. Of course I do feel worse at times with headaches and muscle pains but overall I feel a relief of pressure in my sinus and body. She also said that my blood showed some bacteria and a some liver inflammation, but she said that is expected when being on a cleanse. Any ideas about why the increase in candida fungal in my blood? Is there something I should do to help with this?Thank you for making the time for me. :)
Thank you always and God Bless,
Lauren
Dear Lauren,
I’m sorry that the doctor you found on either ACAM or IFM wasn’t a good experience. Those lists are put out by organizations that train Integrative practitioners. "Integrative" generally means that they have appreciation for the body as a whole. It depends on the Doctor as to their specific area of study.
Actually, I don't have an active practice at this point, and it's important you have someone to monitor you since you report your symptoms are increasing. As the last doctor said, there may be an underlying issue. Here’s another idea in finding a physician. Give Phyllis a call at EnteroLab – 972-686-6869. I was actually at their conference last weekend on “The Gluten Truth”. This is the lab that does gluten sensitivity and gut permeability testing. I’ve found they have a national list of doctors who tend to be gut-oriented and Phyllis will hopefully be able to help you find someone near you.
Yes, there's a company that offers enzymes with EDTA, and the product seems like a good one. Was your doctor going to get those for you? It might be a good idea to try them. And you would continue with the rest of your gut program as well. Other enzymes that help to break down biofilm are serrapeptase and nattokinase. However, you want to discuss taking these with your doctor. There can be interactions with these and other medications you may be taking.
Metametrix is a good company, although you may find them more expensive. It's simply a matter of professional opinion, which lab to use. They offer the same information, just presented differently on the report.
I haven't heard of "immunity" to probiotics. The reason we offer multiple strains is that each person has a unique microbial footprint. What strains your body likes best may not be the ones that are best for me. However, I don't believe that your body becomes immune to the helpful strain's positive effects.
And yes, a retest could be good to see if the bacterial issue is resolved to any degree. To retest your bacteria only you might choose a Microbiology Profile – http://www.labtestingdirect.co…..m/?pid=631, since your original test was negative for parasites.
Really, parasites can be tricky to diagnose, even with the best test, as I can tell you realize. Consider a parasite cleanse and see if that helps. You can actually switch back and forth between ParaGone and CandiGone for a number of months.
Great job on the diet! Unfortunately, the healing process from Candida overgrowth can be a lengthy one. However you don't want to ignore your symptoms if they continue to worsen.
Please let me know how you do and when you find a doc you like.

OfflineDear Brenda,
My pains in my abdomen are back. It seems to get really bad around the same time every month. I went back to my family physician and told her. She gave me more antibiotics and fungal medicine. She told me she does not know what to do for me or why I am still having pains. She really does not want to see me again because she cant help. I don't know if I should take the medicine. She also gave me a number to a holistic doctor in this area that she has heard many good things about though she is not sure if he is taking any new patients and she said he is very expensive and take no insurance. I will try to make an appointment but the cost is a concern.
I went to the holistic doctor that I found through the website you gave me and I was not impressed by her at all. She did not even give me any solutions about the candida overgrowth. She seemed not to know about the candida diet and when I asked her opinion about the diet she said that the diet cant hurt so I can continue on it if I want. Pretty much her solution to a yeast problem was taking a probiotic (which did not have extended release, nor many strained, and only 30 billion culture) and take a enzyme and fiber (the fiber did not have insoluble). She mentioned I should take an enzyme with EDTA that can break down the bio-film that the yeast creates. I have not heard of this before. What is your suggestion? Though she did suggest retesting my stool. She said that doctor data is a good company but metemetrix clinical lab has shown better results for her patients that doctor data has. Though they only ask for one stool sample. She also said I should change my probiotics because your body can become immune to them. What are your thought on that? When I told this doctor about the problems I have been having she seemed to think there is something else causes my problems. I don't think she thinks the yeast could cause this much issue.
My cleanse is going okay. I feel as if my body is not getting rid of the yeast because I have the same symptoms that recur. For example when I take the cleanse my sinus drain and their is less pressure but then the pressure come back, and then releases when I take the cleanse again. It is like a cycle. My muscles do this also. I can also feel twitching in my digestive tract after taking the cleanse and then I am less bloated. I am still on the diet and only vegetables, meat, and occasional brown rice.
I am wondering if my abdomen pain is from a parasite because it is cyclical and monthly. I also have all the symptoms ( like teeth grinding, dark circle under eyes, etc) outline in parasite section in you book the road to perfect health. I really have no clue what to do with the pains and diarrhea monthly I get. It seems to be getting worse. I have no doctors to help me !!! Like I said my family doctor does not want to see me because she does not know what to do. I have a trip planned to go to Florida next summer. I believe this is where you and many of your coworker have offices. If I am still have problems then I would be willing to see anyone to help me while I am on vacation down there. Also if you have any suggestion about finding a good doctor in my area I would be greatly appreciative.
Thank you again and God bless,
Lauren
Dear Lauren,
To answer all your questions clearly, I've put >> where my answer is within your text below:
Thank you for the reply! I am taking fiber. It is fiber smart from renew life, 4 capsule in the morning with water. However, it contains FOS too. Since I have a gluten sensitivity I have to take one that is gluten free (plus the diet says no gluten).
>> RenewLife FiberSmart IS gluten free.
>> FOS is a fruit sugar that is also a fiber and is generally very helpful in the gut. It’s something called a pre-biotic. Your reason to avoid FOS has to do with your particular Stool Analysis test results that you mentioned which showed 3+ Citrobacter braaki, 3+ Citrobacter freundii. That is a particular strain of bacteria that happens to like to eat FOS.
Should I up my dose of fiber? Do I have to find one with no FOS ? If I do is there one that I can I find that is gluten free and has everything it should have in it? I tried to take the Fiber smart that was in powder form but it was upsetting my stomach and I could not swallow my water with the fiber in it because the taste and thickness (normal I put it into orange juice but because of the sugar I am no longer drinking it).
>> FiberSmart powder would be the best. If you shake it up and drink it quickly, it will not have time to thicken. Maybe first put in a little lemon or lime to flavor it?
I am almost done my first week of candida diet and cleanse. I have been really strict to the diet. I have only eaten meat and vegetables. I find myself feeling hunger. I feel worse at times and better at other times. My nose has become much smaller because it is no longer swollen ( I did not know it was that swollen). I even had to get my glass tightened because they kept falling off my nose. I also been having different muscles twitch and then loosen ( I was experiencing the opposite of the muscle tightening a year ago and went to the doctors and they told me nothing was wrong after months of testing). Also I have been having sharp pain in my face then the muscle relaxes. And also itchy skin and spells of irritability. My eyes also feel like they are on fire and sometimes have sharp pain. All of this I can handle as long as I am getting better.
>> As long as these symptoms seem to resolve by themselves so quickly it definitely sounds like your body is busy cleansing.
I was going to add a few whole grains that are gluten free in my diet this week coming up. Like flax seed cereal with no sugar and almond milk for breakfast. How much grains should I add into my diet? I don't want to screw up all the work I have done so far. It has been really hard for me not to have any grain at all.
>> Generally speaking, you would start adding in foods slowly – when symptoms have subsided. Make sure the flax seed cereal contains WHOLE grains, not processed. Anything you make yourself from whole grains will always be a better choice. Almonds are a nut, not a grain – watch for any added sugar in your almond milk. Observe carefully (and honestly) for reactions to your additions. If you notice any, then back off. Really, the less grain added at this point, the better. You recognize that your situation is a serious one. You’re right, you don’t want to mess up your work!
I have food sensitivities to gluten, dairy, peanut, yeast, and blueberries when I got a blood test done two years ago. At that time I took those foods out of my diet and have continued to. I feel like I should let you know this in case I should be doing something special on the diet because of them or if they help you tell me how long my cleanse and diet should be.
>> The Candida diet is gluten free, yeast free, peanut free, dairy free. Avoid blueberries until you get retested to be safe.
Also I don't know how long to be on the diet and the cleanse. I know it is 3 month to a year but how can you tell how long I should be on it. Can I be on the cleanse more than 3 months?
>> How much Candida overgrowth you have and how much “cheating” you do will dictate the time span. Yes, you can be on the cleanse more than 3 months. It will be good to retest once your symptoms have subsided. And when symptoms have really subsided, you can SLOWLY start adding foods back in, one at a time. If symptoms return, or bloating, gas – you may need to avoid that food indefinitely.
>>I have a suggestion. Go to http://www.brendawatson.com/di…..h-journal/ and print out the new Health Journal. It’s free. We just added it to the website last week. It will help you chart your symptoms.
I have only been doing the cleanse on half does (one pill and 10 drops) because I only weigh 124 pounds and this is my frist cleanse ever. Also I do not want a horrible dying off problem. Should I up my dose?
>> It sounds as though you are paying attention to your body. Whenever you choose to up the dose, remember you can always lower it too. Up it when you have a day that is easier for you, in case of increased symptoms. You may find that none happen!
I have not told my doctor about the sharp pains. They are still there but not as bad since I have been on the cleanse and I have worked so hard with the cleanse and diet that I don't want to stop it to take more antibiotics.
>> I am glad to hear the pains are subsiding. If they increase, your doctor should be notified.
Plus the CSA said calpric acid would help kill one of the bacterias I have and that is an ingredient in the cleanse.
Also can I take my anti- fungal medicine while on the candida cleanse? I am suppose to take 2 a week.
>> Yes. Remember, the anti-fungal and CandiGone must both be separated from the Probiotic by 2 hours.
Thank you again for all your help and replies. Sorry for all the questions. I really don't know what I would do without you. That PBS program, your books, and you have helped me start this process. I just hope I can finish it. Can people get better with as bad overgrowth as me? I hope so.
>> Absolutely – people can and do get better from serious overgrowth. As long as you’re committed, you’re heading in a healthy direction.

Dear Lauren,
It shouldn't be an issue that you were taking the Super Critical 200 billion sachet while on your antibiotics. Those antibiotic medications are very strong and the probiotic would not interfere with its purpose. Why you take the probiotic away from the antibiotic is to protect your probiotic from destruction – not the other way around.
Your doctor will decide whether you continue on the prescriptions. Have you mentioned to him/her that you continue to have sharp pains in your stomach?
It is just best to use the Ultimate Floria Critical Care 50 billion since it doesn't have any FOS, as I mentioned before. You still need to be on the 50 billion probiotic, 4 per day, for at least another month to rebuild your good bacteria. Again, take the probiotic at least 2 hours away from CandiGone.
You will want to really avoid fruit as much as possible right now. Just a few berries, perhaps a very tart Granny Smith apple every once in a while. I know you want to get relief from your digestive issues, and bottom line, yeast loves fruit. So doesn't avoiding fruit right now seem like a good idea?
Are you taking your fiber, as you had asked in your last post? It helps carry out toxins from the digestive tract. One of the best fiber supplements includes flax with both soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber absorbs the toxins and insoluble fiber sweeps the colon. It's very important with any cleanse.
Your Candida program shouldn't interfere with your massage vacation (how nice for you!). Eliminating more toxins is a good thing. Be sure to drink extra water – even more than 8 glasses per day, and to continue your diet along with your cleanse – and enjoy!
Keep in touch.

OfflineDear Brenda,
Thank you again for responding. I did not get your message until after I was done my antibiotics. So I took 200 billion probiotics of the renew life while taking the antibiotics.
Does this mean I need to get more antibiotics? I hope not but I am still having sharp pains in my stomach and I want to get better; so if I need them I would like to know. Also I know you said that I should only have a small amount of berries. Does that mean that I should not have any grapefruit or granny smith apples even though it says I can for the candida diet? Also I am going on a massage vacations in two week with my mom. However, I will still be on the cleanse at that time. Should I still get a massage even though it will release more toxins into my body? Thank you for all your help. I greatly appreciate it, especially since I have no one else to help me right now.
God bless,
Lauren
