Hi Nancy,

The discoloration on some of the colon cells can be caused from numerous herbs not just cascara or senna.  There are other reasons to stay away from those two herbs, very purgative and reduces the tone of the bowel.   The discoloration itself is benign and usually from anthranoid type herbs.

I would still suggest a Comprehensive Stool Analysis so you can get a better idea what is going on in your gut to give you constipation.

Brenda,   I had a colonoscopy today as I hadn't had one in 6 years, and my gastro doctor wanted to know if my bloating and belching was related.  It came back pretty much okay, with the exception of melanosis in the colon.  He said that could be due to taking herbal supplements containing cascara sagrada or senna.  These are two things that I STAY AWAY FROM!  I even tell my co-workers who take "diet tea" that contains these ingredients to throw it away and find something else that does not contain these two things.  I do, however, take Cleansemore, and that is ALL I take when I get constipated.  My colonoscopy 6 years ago didn't have any results, so he just labeled me as having "IBS", which I guess basically means he didn't know why I was having consipation issues.

I am going to slowly return to eating small meals and gradually build up tp regular-swize meals, to see if my bloating and belching returns. Do you have any explanation as to why my colonoscopy would show melanosis of the colon if I have never taken any product with cascara sagrada or senna?  My gastro doc probably thought I wasn't telling the truth, but I swear, I stay away from those two products because I don't want ADDITIONAL problems in the future!  I appreciate any help or suggestions.

Thank you, and I am anxious to hear your thoughts.

Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Sorry for the delay in responding.  I have been out on the road and unavailable for a couple of weeks.  There are several things it could be, candida overgrowth, low enzyme output, parasites, bacterial imbalance.  It is hard for me to say exactly what is causing your symptoms. You can start trying some more things like an enzyme formula, going on a candida diet, doing a parasite cleanse. Or you can get a test done called a Comprehensive Stool Analysis with Parasitology to find out exactly what may be causing your issues.  This is a great test  and the only way I can really help is by seeing the results.  You can get this at labtestingdirect.com and put in the code "watson" for more of a discount.

Once you get the results contact me and I can help you further.  It could be related to something that was in the pool – like a parasite.

Brenda,

For the last week I have suffered with bloating, constipation and major indigestion to the point that I don't even feel like eating.  I had an endoscopy done the end of March and everything was fine (was a follow-up endoscopy from my original 5 years ago).  I have started taking the Ultimate Flora critical colon 80 billion and also take the CleanseMore once per week.  That has helped a little bit, but then if I try to eat something, I get the bloating and indigestion again.  I haven't changed my diet at all nor added any other supplements other than the 2 Renew Life products I mentioned above.

We have an outdoor pool, and my husband mentioned there was a little bit of algea in water, so he put chemicals in to clean it out.  My son and I had been swimming in the pool at that time, although I stayed on a raft and did not go completely underwater. Could that have somehow got into my system and caused these issues?

I appreciate any help you could give me.

Thank you!
Nancy
