Dear lishy02,

First, good job adding probiotics into your nightly regimen and for making some changes to your diet! These days, probiotics are necessary to deal with all the toxins encountered every day. After you've completed your 50 billion bottle, you might next choose 80 billion, which is actually our very best probiotic formula for IBS.

Remember that diet is really about 80% of the game. You didn't mention your attention to carbohydrates/gluten and sugar, which tend to be irritants in IBS.

Which leads me to “cleansing”. This topic is so important that I just added your answer to our FAQs http://blog.brendawatson.com/f…..sing-faqs/.

If it were me, after dealing with this for a year, I'd want to really see what's going on inside my gut. For that I recommend a Comprehensive Stool Analysis. You can read more about that test toward the top of this forum under Testing. If you let us know when you test, we'll be happy to help you interpret your results.

I hope this helps. Keep in touch and let me know how you do.

Hi Brenda!

What are your thoughts on a colon cleanse? I have been dealing with stomach and pelvic pains, constipation and crazy bloating (after eating what probably isn't even a real meal!) for well over a year and every doctor I see goes with "I suspect you have IBS" I had an ultrasound appointment today and was told "wow, there's a lot of bowel in there" which makes me wonder…should I consider a cleanse? I don't know what it entails or how it makes one feel. I take your 50 billion probiotic every night, have cut out dairy and red meat over a year ago and still manage to feel not so great. Thoughts?
