Dear sunnydays,

Ugh. Chronic bladder infections. I agree, daily antibiotics are not a good thing.

Questions come to mind – if you are with the same partner, have you both been tested for possible shared infection? You mention vaginal itching – is that just with the probiotic, or have you experienced vaginitis in the past? Has your urologist isolated a particular bacteria that seems to be reinfecting you?

There is no doubt in my mind that your constipation is worsening your situation. At the very least, with toxins built up over time, it's likely you've developed Leaky Gut Syndrome, your colon is not the healthiest, and your immune system is compromised (80% is in your gut).

You might try probiotics that are created to be used with vaginal issues like Ultimate Flora Vaginal Formula. This is high in Lactobacillus and will travel into your system through the tissues and be used effectively that way to help balance the pH in the vagina, as well as throughout the body.

Personally, I would want to get to the root of the problem. There are 2 simple tests that you can order if you're ready for a little detective work. One is a Microbiology Profile http://www.labtestingdirect.co…..m/?pid=631 which shows the bacteria and yeast, good and bad, in your colon. The second might be a Comprehensive Vaginosis Profile http://www.labtestingdirect.co…..m/?pid=712 which detects the bacteria, yeast and other organisms present in the vagina. You would then know where pathogens might be coming from.

Or you might get an opinion from an Integrative Medical Doctor (looks at your body as a whole) and they can determine testing. Here are 2 websites that might help you locate someone near you. http://www.acam.org and http://www.functionalmedicine.org.

I've actually addressed poop and sex here, although not with regard to infection. http://www.brendawatson.com/po…..art02.aspx.

If you email my assistant at jsinclaire@renewlife.com, she can send you the chapter on Constipation from my new book that includes protocols for healing.

I hope this is helpful.

I have chronic bladder infections post intercourse. My urologist has me on daily small doses of antibiotics to control the infections but I would like to try and get off of them. I started taking probiotics (10 bill) daily but they cause vaginal itching. Am I taking too much or will the symptoms subside once my body adjusts? I also have constipation issues, how do I know what amount to take?
