Dear Lrobin,

It doesn't sound as though your sister was able to see an Integrative Practitioner. Here are 2 websites that might help you locate someone near you if she'd like a 4th opinion -  http://www.acam.org and http://www.functionalmedicine.org. These Docs view the body as a whole and generally suggest the types of testing I do (you can see those Tests posted toward the top of this Forum). Or you can call Phyllis at EnteroLab – 972-686-6869 to help find a Doc. She maintains a national database of more advanced practitioners with an awareness of digestive issues.

Sadly, your sister is not alone. At the very least, it sounds as though she's feeling the effects of a leaky gut with Candida overgrowth. It's actually not uncommon to experience anxiety as a result, since 80% of precursors to serotonin (a calming neurotransmitter) are made in the gut.

Please email my assistant at jsinclaire@renewlife.com to send you the chapters on GERD and Candidiasis from my new book, The Road to Perfect Health. They contain descriptions of the issues (that will sound familiar to her, I'm sure), and also some suggested protocols, with diet as a critical piece.

Tell her not to despair – if she's willing to make a commitment to her health, she can heal both her gut, and her life.

Hi Brenda,

When one is diiagnosed with GERD , by 3 different Gastroenterologists , and is put on 60mg of Prevacid and follows a strict GERD diet and has no results…where do you turn? Sister is down to 99lbs, feels like she is drowning in water brash in her throat, has panic attacks and is giving up. Has anyone ever experiienced this when they got older. Where do you now start??? There has to be a new direction to take, Can you help…..pleeeeeease?
